Dec 21, 2017: Thursday, Dec 21, 2017 saw the Master Chefs of DLFPS from Grade VIII to XI, putting their culinary skills to the best use to compete in the a�?Inter House Master Chefa�� competition on the theme ‘Reassert Your Hunger, Devour the Dessert!‘. The students represented their houses in groups of 5 and the dining hall was agog with excitement and anticipation. As part of this competition, the students were asked to use Milk as key ingredient to prepare a sweet from India with a fusion of their choice. Attired in chef caps and aprons, the students made a pretty picture and displayed their skill, knowledge and creativity by making scrumptious Gulab Jamun and Saffron Yogurt Cake,Manda Pitha with Rabdi, Chocotards and Nutty Stars within a time frame of 2 hours. The excitement was infectious and their knowledge of food was astonishing. They worked in teams and successfully presented their dishes in an innovating manner. The dishes had been given creative names and their food value and list of ingredients was displayed for the benefit of the judges. The judges Chef Deepak Rawat, IIHM and Ms Reena Daruwala, a passionate cook and a homemaker, faced the biggest challenge of selecting the best ones from a host of delicious and nutritious preparations. The judges evaluated the dishes based on parameters like taste, aroma, creativity, fusion, presentation and layout. Chef Deepak Rawat while addressing the audience said that in coming times cooking is going to be a great and lucrative career option. While Venus house got appreciation for making a healthy dish, Mercury earned applauds for fusion of traditional with modern, Jupiter house made a great presentation and Mars House emerged as Winner for their taste.A� Principal Seema Jerath while addressing the audience guided all Delfites on misconceptions regarding nutritional value and invited students to initiate creating their own doable menu option for their very own Delfites’ Cafetaria! The event generated a lot of positive interest in Delfites and they participated eagerly in the event which was a great success.
