Jan 30, 2018: At DLF, special emphasis is taken to instill among the students the respect for sacrifices and gallant efforts made by Indians for the pride and honour of nation. The day was observed by a Special Assembly to mark the occasion of Martyrs Day by the Venus house students of Grade IV – VIII. Assembly started by paying homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the martyrs by observing a one minute silence.The inspirational thoughts of Gandhiji reverberated in the assembly as they were shared by students on the occasion. The guests of honour were members of Late. Major Mohit Sharma’s family who attained martyrdom fighting for his motherland in the finest traditions of Indian Army. On this eventful day, Delfites who made a mark in various fields were felicitated by guests of honour during a commendation ceremony. Palak Gupta, Dwiti Singh of Grade IX and Aditya Daga and Bhavya Taneja of Grade X were awarded with Major Mohit Sharma AC SM Award for their exemplary performance at State and National level in different fields. National Achievers Awards were also given on the day.
Principal Seema Jerath while addressing everyone expressed her concern regarding the recent rise of violence by children and stressed that there is a need for introspection among people especially young generation in our society to bring about a positive change. The students of the other classes throughout the school paid a 1 minute silent tribute for the Father of the Nation. These efforts would go a long way in shaping their character and future and kindle the spirit of Pride and Gallantry among them.
Event concluded with an inter-house March Past Competition where Jupiter House emerged as winner.
