The Diwali Celebration at DLF Public School on October 17, 2017 was all about creating awareness and our responsibility towards a better tomorrow. The school has constantly believed in Safety First and has always campaigned for ‘Say No to Crackers’ in order to advocate a cleaner and better environment. This year the school decided to celebrate Diwali with a difference. Delfites of different classes organised a rally to make a conscientious effort to spread the message of ‘Say No to Crackers’, both within the school as well as in the vicinity. As a part of Diwali celebrations,pre-primary and primary wings decorated the corridors and classrooms with lanterns and torans which they made in their classes. Delfites made posters and wrote slogans to sensitise their friends about the pollution caused by fire crackers. These posters were displayed at various places in the school. They also visited the classes to spread the message of ‘Safe Diwali’. The children of Pre-primary and Primary classes celebrated the festival of lights with much joy and enthusiasm. Special morning assembly enlightened the students about the harmful effects of crackers through Nukkad Natak where the message was simple and clear – if we don’t care for the environment, the environment won’t care for us, hence we all must say NO to Crackers and celebrate a green Diwali. The event included group songs evoking the festival essence; that of defeating the evil and the victory of virtue, integrity and faith.Principal Seema Jerath graced the event and stressed that every individual should rise above boundaries and celebrate such occasions with the underprivileged souls of our society especially children and aged people.
