A danseuse of vision and versatility, Mrs Kavita Dwibedi effortlessly engaged the generation ‘y’ with her superb abhinaya in her Oddissi Dance Recital at Virasat 2014 on April 21, 2014 at DLPS under the aegis of SPICMACAY. Students from schools in Delhi and NCR also joined in this classical rendition.

Ms. Dwibedi helped students understand the nuances of classical dance by interacting with them all through her performance and delightfully quoted during an interview with the student editorial board that while she performed on stage in front of students, their energies and enthusiasm led to a new form of dance that emerged instinctively on stage itself. Students experienced the sanskriti, kala, bhasha, itihaas of Oddssi Dance through her exceptionally simple and inviting bhaav nritya. She even introduced students to the amazing set of dance vocabulary.

The event was one of the various strings of the Indian Culture that students are experiencing as part of the ‘Heritage Education’ and was very much a part of the school curriculum. With performing arts seen as one of the significant tools of bringing harmony in a conflicting society of today, the event helped to elevate and purify the inner selves of students and they said they would like to be part of events like these in future as well.
