SPIC MACAY– VIRASAT 2016

SPIC MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) organized an exclusive convention – VIRASAT 2016. A group of 10 students from classes VI, VIII, IX and X along with Ms. Sapna Singh from the Social Science department, attended this 2-day event at DPS NTPC, Vidyut Nagar which included a stay and participation in the cultural programs. The convention mainly aimed at bringing our youngsters face-to-face with the rich and ancient culture and heritage of India. The intricately planned schedule was a fascinating blend of talks, recitals and dance performances by experts. ‘Kissa Goi’, a story-telling session and a talk on Swami Vivekanand were particularly liked by the Delfites as they were exposed to a new perspective of thought processing, gaining knowledge and ways to build a healthy disposition.

The Delfites felt ecstatic to meet the eminent performers such as Pt. Ronu Majumdar (Flute Recital), Padma Shree Raghu Rai (Speaker), Padma Shree G.C.D. Bharti (Kabir Bani Recital), Vidushi Som Bala (Vocal), Padma Shree Geeta Chandran (Bhart Natyam) amongst many others during their inspirational stay.

Our Delfites defined this event as a soulful learning experience in terms of the heritage of India, which they felt is immense, interesting as well as captivating!
