Principal’s Desk 2010

With the onset of session 2010-11, 13 years after its inception, your school has grown almost full strength about 2400 now. We no longer wish to grow in numbers but in quality, in inner strength. Henceforth, we shall look inwards to grow outwards. Today, your fully grown school has just sworn in its 8th Students’ Guild, this year with 60 students; 60 school leaders who represent the other 2400. Congratulations to all 60 of you. The oath that you took is a solemn promise- a promise that you will be true role models whom the other Delfites can look up to and desire to emulate.

I hope you understand that today, we have not DIVIDED you into 4 Houses & Executive Council but UNITED into ONE   SCHOOL GUILD – one team-a team that will work with a good mental volition, a good state of mind, Leaders; who will make this school a better place.

If I ask you all which one you would call a leader-Mahatma Gandhi or President Barrack Obama, what would your answer be? Mahatma Gandhi in his unique way has influenced a nation; changed mindsets across the world. But, President Obama although showing a lot of promise, has yet to prove himself BY DOING SOMETHING CONCRETE. So, I call him a leader-in-waiting. Leadership is more about DOING. What you DO is more important than what you ARE or the badge you wear. So, take this opportunity to get into action. To me, Leadership is less about leading others and more about leading yourself.

I would like to express my appreciation for the very dignified manner in which the outgoing Guild conducted themselves and their duties. The outgoing Executive Council would be holding a meeting for the new Students’ Guild.

I once again urge all of you to utilize this yearlong opportunity well. Let each day of your leadership be a new canvas to paint upon. Make sure your picture is full of life and happiness and at the end of the day you don’t look at it and wish you had painted something different!
