It was a day of immense pride and honour for DLPS to have received two Awards at the Lokmanilal Awards for Excellence in Education 2013. While Principal Seema Jerath received the ‘Excellence Award for Lifetime Achievement’, Mrs. Zohra Lawrence won the ‘Excellence Award for School Teaching in Primary Classes’. They were awarded at an Award Ceremony in Allahabad on Dec 23, 2013. Earlier in September this year, Principal Seema Jerath had also received the National Award to Teachers 2012 by Sh. Pranab Mukherjee, the Hon’ble President of India.
The award was bestowed upon Mrs. Seema Jerath for her incredible 27 years of outstanding contribution in the field of pedagogy. She has skilfully introduced innovative teaching methods and transformed the school of her dream ‘A School with a Soul’, to a reality; visible and tangible. She has successfully humanized the classrooms by transforming the ‘teacher from a sage on the stage’ to ‘a guide by the side’ and made the students internalize the highest ideals in thoughts and actions.
By integrating ‘meditation’ into the curriculum, she has been successful in enhancing the emotional climate of her school. She has created the concept of student social responsibility instilling in students the desire and ability to give back to society rather than be mere helpless beneficiaries of society. Her pragmatism has urged her to venture forward dauntlessly and thus has ushered in the winds of positive change.
Mrs. Zohra Lawrence has had a long association with the school and has channelized the potential energies of students by experimenting with innovative techniques. She has successfully orchestered programmes that yield a constant upliftment for the underprivileged. She is known in the school for her unique and creative ideas and her passion to execute them with perfection.
DLPS congratulates Mrs. Seema Jerath and Mrs Zohra Lawrence and believes that its teachers will keep contributing to the field of education and leave a positive impact on the world!
