Awarded with $ 5000 for Entrepreneurial Excellence
Students of DLPS added yet another global achievement to their archives as they competed with the best in the world and won the Top Global Prize at the School Enterprise Challenge International 2012, receiving a cash prize of $5000. DLPS received the highest honor among 800 school teams from 40 countries for producing the best ‘all-round’ business, from the planning stage to the final narrative report. Delfites also impressed the judges by considering all three of the ‘People, Profit & Planet’ criteria of the project. The project, titled as ‘DLPS Craft Hut’ was undertaken by students of class XI commerce stream, providing them hands on experience as young entrepreneurs. The students used 50% profit of the project for the welfare of the less privileged children.
The team created handicrafts that were environment friendly and economically viable. As volunteers of ‘paperless society’, students advertised through e-mails, text messages and social media and had garnered a presence of 1000+ at the formal launch of the enterprise.
Ms. Lindsey Crouch from “Teach a man to Fish”, London, U.K. visited the school on March 20, 2013 to assess the working and nitty-gritty related to the production and marketing of this globally acknowledged Entrepreneurship Project and said she was greatly impressed by this huge collaborative effort of students, parents, teachers and members of community.
This international award is testimony to the school’s effort to create 21 st century citizens, providing them a platform for real life application of class room learning as we believe that entrepreneurship in education is one of the significant needs of the 21st century global education system.
This exposure has not only helped students get a taste of the real business world but also in developing their vocational skills and learning the virtues of team work, honesty and hard work.
